And down the stretch they come!

College hockey hits the stretch run this weekend, with the regular season winding down and the margins tightening across the country. For several leagues, this marks the final weekend before the playoffs begin next week.

Our weekend preview features my Games of the Week, with a closer look at North Dakota vs. Western Michigan, Quinnipiac vs. Dartmouth, and Boston College vs. Boston University.

Also in today’s newsletter (#652):

  • We have notes from College Hockey Inc. on the conference races, along with potential seeding scenarios for every league.

  • The White House is planning to convene a “College Sports Roundtable” in the near future.

  • There are notes on how Ohio State plans to allocate its revenue-sharing budget.

  • And Omaha becomes the first college hockey program, to my knowledge, to announce a jersey-patch sponsor for next season.

This newsletter is brought to you by the United Collegiate Hockey Cup, the inaugural postseason tournament for college hockey’s independent programs, set for March 5–7 in St. Louis. Games of the Week

(3) North Dakota at (4) Western Michigan

There are obvious NPI implications at play, with a top-five matchup that could ripple into the No. 1 seed picture. We’ll see where that shakes out. More immediately, the Penrose Cup will be on the line this weekend when these teams collide at Lawson Ice Arena.
