I didn’t think Johnny was going to give up a 4th goal, so it seemed like just a matter of time before Denver scored. Michigan dominated the action but Denver wins with defense.

My wife (a UND grad) was frustrated with how the Sioux, er uh, Fighting Hawks played. I wonder if the Badgers just played that well.

Anyone who loves Hockey will be pumped for DU and Mich! I am not a Big 10 supporter ( exception Golden Gophers) but I do like Michigan in this match up. I'm picking The Sioux over Big 10 Badgers. I liked the Sioux in all aspects during Sioux Falls Regional. They mopped up Quinapiac which I didn't expect. Btw- I'm a Denver native so not an easy pick! Lets Play Hockey!

Dakota Dan - I grew up in the same small town as Ralph Engelstad, though twenty years younger than him. I grew up a Sioux and Gophers fan, but now loyal to the Denver Pioneers. Whatever the results today, it’s great hockey and a lot of fun.

I’m glad that you showed stats for the past five games. My take is that Denver has had two seasons. 13-11-2 in the first season, 14-0-1 in the second. Sure, Johnny Hicks has played a huge role, but I’ve seen DU increasingly gain both confidence and proficiency as the season has progressed. As a fan in the stands I saw a lot of near misses early on. I didn’t think DU had played all that poorly, just that they hadn’t come together as a team. That’s changed now, and so have the competitive dynamics of today’s monstrous matchup.
