Final Bracket Projection
Bentley (AHA), Cornell (ECAC), Michigan State (B10), and Western Michigan (NCHC) won conference championships on Saturday night.
The NCAA will officially unveil the 2025 men’s hockey bracket tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET. Here is my final bracket projection:
MANCHESTER
(1) Boston College vs. (16) Bentley
(8) Providence vs. (9) Denver
TOLEDO
(2) Michigan State vs. (15) Cornell
(7) Boston University vs. (10) Ohio State
ALLENTOWN
(3) Maine vs. (13) Penn State
(6) Connecticut vs. (12) Quinnipiac
FARGO
(4) Western Michigan vs. (14) Minnesota State
(5) Minnesota vs. (11) Massachusetts
We had to make a few changes from the original 1-16 bracket.
1) Penn State had to go to Allentown. They naturally fell in Fargo against Western Michigan, but I flipped Penn State and Minnesota State to put the Nittany Lions in Allentown as the host school, which is required under the committee’s guidelines.
2) UConn and UMass were matched up together as an intra-conference matchup. Again, a simple flip between Quinnipiac and UMass solves that issue. UMass can’t go to Toledo (BU) or Manchester (Providence), so they should head to Fargo.
I don’t see the need to change anything else. Despite six Hockey East teams in the bracket, it’s straightforward.
The Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee will bracket the teams tonight and the official bracket will be unveiled tomorrow.
The current roster of committee members includes:
Blake James, Boston College AD
Joshua Richelew, Michigan Admin
Timothy Troville, Harvard Sr. Assoc. AD
Scott Sandelin, Minnesota Duluth head coach
Rick Gotkin, Mercyhurst head coach
Bob Daniels, Ferris State head coach
