Eastern Thoughts: Air Force flying high after weekend sweep
Plus, more thoughts from Atlantic Hockey, Hockey East, and the ECAC
Coming into the season, everyone believed Sacred Heart was the team to beat in Atlantic Hockey. Last weekend, Air Force went on the road and swept the Pioneers, making as strong a statement as you’ll see this early in league play.
Today’s issue (#608) features my weekend thoughts from around the Eastern conferences — Atlantic Hockey, Hockey East, and the ECAC — including:
Air Force’s sweep over Sacred Heart
How RIT has jumped out to a 7–2 start
UMass delivering a strong response after what Greg Carvel called one of the worst losses of his tenure
Vermont searching for traction, but showing promise with a young core
Yale beating Quinnipiac for the first time in eight years
Whether Dartmouth is headed for another December–January swoon or if this version of the Big Green is the real deal
Plus, we’ve got a notebook on the final seven Spengler Cup selections, an injury update at BU, and news on a new Division III program launching soon.
Don’t forget, if you’re a subscriber, make sure you’re linked to my subscriber chat in the Substack app. I provide updates there in between newsletters. Yesterday you would have received notes on the Spengler Cup selection process as well as the two players selected.
