Big Ten
Penn State 3, Ohio State 2: Penn State once again found itself trailing early, as Ohio State built a 2-0 lead, but the Nittany Lions stormed back with two goals just 1:37 apart in the third period to secure the comeback win. JJ Wiebusch added a power-play marker — his 10th goal of the season — in the second period. It was a penalty-filled affair, with the teams combining for 15 power plays on the night.
Wisconsin 5, Minnesota 2: The Badgers stayed unbeaten at 5-0-2, outshooting Minnesota 43-16 in a dominant performance. The Gophers managed just three shots in the third period. Christian Fitzgerald recorded his second hat trick of the season to pace Wisconsin’s offense. Minnesota, meanwhile, fell to 2-6-1.
Hockey East
Northeastern 4, Boston College 1: All hail Lawton Zacher. After backstopping the Huskies to a win over Denver last weekend, the freshman netminder turned aside 40 shots in this victory over BC. Zacher has now stopped 75 of the last 76 shots he’s faced — an incredible stretch, especially against teams generating 5.5 expected goals over those two games. Dylan Hryckowian added a goal and an assist in the win.
Atlantic Hockey
Holy Cross 5, Sacred Heart 2: Michael Abgrall led the way for Holy Cross with three points (2 goals, 1 assist), while Timothy Heinke chipped in two assists. Noah Eyre also had a strong night, contributing a goal and an assist as the Crusaders took care of business against the Pioneers.
