Breaking Update (Part II): Hastings hired as next Wisconsin coach
According to multiple sources, Minnesota State head coach Mike Hastings will be the new head coach at Wisconsin.
Hastings has been at Minnesota State for the last 11 seasons, and he has led the program to five straight NCAA appearances, including a pair of Frozen Fours. This past season the Mavericks went 25-13-1 and won the CCHA Championship.
Wisconsin players were informed of Hastings’ hiring during a mandatory meeting with school officials at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Wisconsin fired Tony Granato three weeks ago.
I’ll have more on Hastings’ hiring and what it means for Wisconsin (and Minnesota State) in a newsletter later tonight.
