(#476) How are college coaches and NHL execs reacting to the potential CHL rule change? Plus 10 weekend takeaways
I will have breakdowns on the rest of my top 12 this week. I spent a lot more time last week (more than I anticipated) working phones and texts to catch up on the "CHL vote" story, which ultimately never materialized because the D-I council pushed the vote to next month. However, I gathered more info and some tidbits from coaches and NHL folks on how they're reacting to the NCAA changing the "CHL rule."
Also, I have 10 takeaways from the weekend, which include:
Lindenwood makes a statement to conferences
Is the ECAC primed for more NCAA bids?
Simon Latkoczy's impressive Ice Breaker
BC and Michigan State split a fun series
Michigan Tech gets off to a better start
Colorado College's impressive puck-possession weekend, and why it showed me something about Northern Michigan
North Dakota's win over Providence
RPI's goal-scoring explosion
Stonehill is going to surprise some teams
If I'm a UMD fan, I'm excited about what the Bulldogs could look like in a couple of years.
Lastly, some more sad news to share. Union play-by-play voice Matt Dubrey has been diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Matt will miss time calling Union games, and he’ll also miss time away from his business. A GoFundMe has been set up to help his family during this time. Please considering donating if you are able.
