Saturday Roundup: Western Michigan and Providence sweep, and a potential long-term injury for Michigan's Jack Ivankovic
Western Michigan and Providence brought the brooms out, putting exclamation points on weekend sweeps.
But perhaps the biggest development of the weekend came in Ann Arbor, where Michigan’s win over Notre Dame was overshadowed by the uncertain status of Wolverines goaltender Jack Ivankovic after a second-period collision that forced him to leave the game, and potentially miss significant time.
Here’s a complete recap of Saturday’s action, with notes from every game played across the college hockey landscape.

Big Ten
Michigan 7, Notre Dame 4: Aidan Park and Garrett Schifsky each scored twice for the Wolverines, but the story of the game was the 173 combined penalty minutes — and a potentially long-term injury to Michigan goaltender Jack Ivankovic after a collision with Notre Dame captain Danny Nelson in the second period.
Michigan coach Brandon Naurato didn’t have a definitive update on Ivankovic immediately after the game, saying he didn’t want to speculate, but did note that it looked like he could be out “a long time.”
Ivankovic was helped off the ice by teammates and did not appear to put any weight on his leg.
Stephen Peck came on in relief and stopped 18 of 21 shots over the final 37:18 of the game.
Ohio State 2, Michigan State 1: Porter Martone scored his 14th goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough for the Spartans. Davis Burnside’s goal midway through the third period proved to be the game-winner.
