Brown 4, Dartmouth 3: Brendan Whittet closed his tenure behind the Brown bench with one final victory, as Ben Poitras scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Bears past Dartmouth.
Whittet is stepping down to take a family medical leave and will return to the athletic department in an administrative role.
Brown is in the midst of a first round of interviews for the position. Jason Smith will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. I’ll have more on Brown’s coaching search later this week.
On this night, though, the focus was squarely on the Bears delivering one last win for their longtime head coach, coming against one of the league’s top teams.
Brown posted the following video from the locker room after the game:
Quinnipiac 4, Princeton 1: The game was level after one period before Elliott Groenewold struck in the opening seconds of the second, giving the Bobcats a lead they would not relinquish. Ethan Wyttenbach added his 20th goal of the season as Quinnipiac pulled away.
RPI 6, Colgate 1: It was a lopsided night for the Engineers, highlighted by three assists from Filip Sitar and multi-point performances from five different players as six skaters found the scoresheet. Nate Krawchuk turned aside 22 shots in goal.
