(44) Miami
Storylines
Miami will head to Belfast this season to take part in the Friendship Four. The Redhawks will open the tournament against RIT. The Redhawks will also play in the GLI this season, and will open that tournament against Michigan Tech.
Lionel Mauron was promoted to assistant coach after service as the Director of Hockey Operations.
Assistant coach David Nies was named the program’s general manager.
Analysis
The first thing you notice about Miami’s roster is that it’s chock-full of new faces. Seven transfers and 12 freshmen have reshaped the program overnight.
On paper, the overall talent has improved. There will be growing pains with so much inexperience, but the skill level is higher than it has been in recent years. The RedHawks may still be stuck at the bottom of the NCHC, but this season should finally bring some visible signs of progress.
On defense, Michael Quinn remains the steady presence Miami can count on. Freshman Charlie Michaud is expected to step directly into a significant role from Day 1.
Up front, two newcomers could immediately define the offense. Freshmen Kocha Delic and David Deputy look like the top forwards on this roster, while Matteo Giampa, a transfer from Canisius, should add a scoring jolt. Max Helgeson, who arrives from Alaska Anchorage, brings valuable experience and figures to slot into a top-six role.
