Preseason Power Rankings
Storylines
— The Crusaders will open the season with a big non-conference matchup against Maine at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester. The event is being billed as the “Cross City Classic” and will be the back end of a two-game series that begins at the Hart Center on Oct. 2.
— Holy Cross is entering its sixth season under head coach Bill Riga. The Crusaders finished 18-18-2 last season, posting a record of .500 or better for the third consecutive year. It marks the first time the program has accomplished that since 2010-13 under former head coach Paul Pearl.
Riga has gone 92-90-13 all-time at Holy Cross.
Roster Breakdown
I have a feeling this projection might surprise some people.
The Crusaders were hit by a combination of significant graduations and the loss of their top player, Jack Stockfish, to the transfer portal. Another forward who provided solid secondary scoring, Devin Phillips, also departed through the portal.
That leaves some real holes up front.
