Pairwise Monday: Hockey East back up to seven teams (#530)
Yesterday was President’s Day, so we’re running Pairwise Monday on a Tuesday!
This issue delves into the Pairwise and NCAA Tournament. Hockey East is back to seven qualifying teams after UMass beat Boston College on Friday night.
I examine the Pairwise bubble, which has shrunk considerably. According to my analysis, 10 of the 16 teams for the NCAA Tournament are locked. The final six teams include three potential conference tournament winners and six teams battling for three at-large positions.
Why has the bubble shrunk? This is mainly due to a big RPI gap between No. 16 Penn State and No. 18 New Hampshire. I’ll explain in more detail.
Today’s issue (#530) also includes
Our weekly look at the inter-conference records of each conference.
We have some fun and put together a meaningless bracketology for people to get excited (or upset) about.
Pairwise takeaways.
NCAA Tournament locks and “virtual locks.”
