According to a report from The Grand Forks Herald’s Brad Elliott Schlossman, Brad Berry is out as North Dakota's head coach.
UND fired Berry on Sunday, two days after Western Michigan ended UND’s season in the NCHC semifinals. North Dakota missed the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
Schlossman said that UND will likely expedite the hiring process and “rarely go outside the family.”
Berry was behind the bench for 10 seasons and posted winning records every year. He led the Fighting Hawks to five Penrose Cups and the 2016 national championship. Berry was named the NCHC Coach of the Year four times and he was national Coach of the Year in 2020.
Berry had one year remaining on his contract from an extension he signed in 2022.
