Mailbag: Which team is best built to win in April? Breaking down strength of schedule, and more
Plus: Colorado College is working to add a defenseman for the second semester, the Spengler Cup will stream in the U.S.
In lieu of a traditional weekend preview, today’s newsletter takes the form of a mailbag.
That said, there is hockey this weekend. It’s rare to see games scheduled this close to the holidays, but Omaha and Augustana will have the college hockey spotlight allto themselves with a two-game series on Friday and Saturday night.
The schedule ramps back up next Saturday, Dec. 27, when Arizona State visits Dartmouth for the opener of a two-game set. There’s also a semi-full slate on Sunday, Dec. 28, and Monday, Dec. 29, highlighted by several holiday tournaments.
Today’s mailbag edition (Issue No. 620) features questions on:
— Oscar Hemming’s path to BC
— Which team is best built to win in April?
— How Union can sit at No. 29 in the NPI despite 12 wins?
— Where Ilia Morozov could land in the NHL Draft?
— Whether the NCAA or U.S. government should encourage teams to roster more American players?
Plus, Colorado College is exploring the addition of a defenseman for the second half, with sources indicating the program could be close to bringing in Mats Lindgren. There’s also news on the Spengler Cup streaming in the U.S., an update on Mercyhurst injuries, and more.
