UConn and Quinnipiac will face off in today’s Connecticut Ice Final after both teams won their first-round games on Friday. There were multiple headlines around college hockey on Friday night, including Cornell beating Dartmouth in the ECAC, Providence clipped BU, Merrimack sweeping Northeastern, St. Cloud topped Denver, and a lot more.

Connecticut Ice Tournament
Quinnipiac 5, Sacred Heart 1: The Bobcats continue to roll, winning for the 14th time in their last 15 games. Defenseman William Gilson drove the offense with a three-point night (1g, 2a), while Dylan Silverstein turned aside 24 shots to keep Quinnipiac firmly in control.
UConn 5, Yale 2: The Huskies leaned on balanced production, led by Ryan Tattle’s three-point effort (1g, 2a). Joey Muldowney chipped in his 12th goal of the season as UConn pulled away.
Big Ten
Michigan State 3, Minnesota 1: Michigan State dedicated the win to Dan Sturges, an alum and the program’s Director of Hockey Operations who passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. Luca Di Pasquo anchored the effort with a 40-save performance.
Ohio State 4, Notre Dame 2: Jake Karabela broke a 2-2 tie with 1:57 remaining, snapping a tight game late. Chris Able added two assists for the Buckeyes.
Penn State 7, Wisconsin 2: Wisconsin jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one, but Penn State responded emphatically with seven unanswered goals. Gavin McKenna and Dane Dowiak recorded hat tricks, while Aiden Fink and Mac Gadowsky each finished with three assists.
Hockey East
Providence 4, Boston University 3: A back-and-forth affair saw multiple lead changes before Aleksi Kivioja scored with 2:41 remaining to lift the Friars. Cole Eiserman scored twice for BU, while Providence climbed to No. 10 in the NPI.
Merrimack 3, Northeastern 1: Merrimack completed the sweep and climbed back to .500, getting second-period goals from Justin Gill and Parker Lalonde. Max Lundgren was steady, stopping 30 shots.
