Merrimack is now unbeaten in its last six games (5-0-1) since falling to Quinnipiac on opening night with last night’s 5-4 win over UConn in a rematch of last season’s Hockey East championship game.

Today’s issue has every score, and notes from every game around the country from Friday night. Other highlights included the return of goaltenders Lawton Zacher (Northeastern) and Johnny Hicks (Denver).

We also have Saturday’s viewing guide, and some picks for Saturday night’s games. We went 3-1 last night, and so far, I’m 11-5 on the season.

Merrimack 5, UConn 4

In a rematch of last season’s Hockey East championship game, Merrimack outlasted UConn in a back-and-forth game. The Huskies led 1-0, 3-2 and 4-3, but Ty Daneault tied it early in the third period with his fifth goal of the season, part of a three-point night. Freshman defenseman David Green then scored the winner with 3:46 left. It was the second goal of his college career, both coming Friday, and he finished with four points.

UConn went 2-for-2 on the power play, while Merrimack went 0-for-4. Joey Muldowney had three points for the Huskies.

Boston College 3, Northeastern 2 (OT)

Dean Letourneau won it just 45 seconds into overtime, after being benched for part of the second period for taking a retaliatory roughing penalty. Lawton Zacher returned to the Northeastern net and made 45 saves as BC outshot the Huskies 48-18.
