Big Ten: McKenna’s record-setting night for Penn State
Penn State 11, Ohio State 4: Gavin McKenna authored a night for the record books, piling up one goal and seven assists (five primaries) as Penn State steamrolled Ohio State.
It’s believed the last player in an NCAA Division I men’s game against another D-I opponent to record eight or more points in a single night was North Dakota’s Bob Joyce, who had nine (six goals) on Jan. 23, 1987.
The Nittany Lions were ruthlessly efficient on the man advantage, going 5-for-5 on the power play. Penn State also got two goals apiece from Matt DiMarsico, Luke Misa, and Shea Van Olm, while Aiden Fink chipped in a five-point night of his own (1g, 4a).
Wisconsin 4, Michigan 1: A massive Big Ten result — and an equally important NPI boost — for the Badgers. Will Horcoff gave Michigan an early jolt with his 22nd goal of the season, but Wisconsin responded with four unanswered goals and controlled the game from there, outshooting the Wolverines 39–23.
