Sources tell College Hockey Insider that Brett Riley will be named the next head coach at Ferris State.
We reported on Tuesday that Riley had emerged as the frontrunner for the job. Trevor Large, Tommy Hill, Adam Krug, and Cody Chupp were also finalists.
Riley, 34, has been the head coach at Long Island since 2020. This past season he led the Sharks to a 20-win season (20-12-2).
Riley was named the first head coach in Long Island history in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Sharks have improved their win total in every season (3, 10, 13, 16, 20). Long Island finished this season ranked No. 25 in the Pairwise. Alaska was the next-closest independent (No. 40).
Riley is the grandson of legendary Army coach Jack Riley, and the son of former Army coach Rob Riley.
Ferris State coach Bob Daniels retired at the end of the season. The Bulldogs went 13-20-3.
