(#312) Portal and third assistant updates
Also, BU committed the first '07 in college hockey, Youngstown protected a top Maine recruit, and more
Hello, and thanks for spending part of your day with College Hockey Insider.
Topics from today’s newsletter (#) include:
— We haven't posted any updates on the transfer portal in a few weeks because there hasn't been a lot of major movement on that front. But, we took today to update all transactions, including 18 commitments. One of the top defensemen remaining on the board committed to Penn State, and Jack Hughes' transfer to Boston University is finally official after months of speculation.
— Updates on third assistant hirings, including new Maine, Alaska, and Northern Michigan coaches. Also, a note on Lowell.
— BU raised some eyebrows this week when they committed a 2007-born forward, but I have a theory on why it's not such a big deal (most '07s can't receive official offers until August 1).
— Youngstown (USHL) added a top Maine recruit to its protected list in what feels like a speculative move.
— In our news and notes, Middlebury (D-III) named an interim head coach, another top '07 signed in the QMJHL, the NTDP hired someone to replace Kevin Reiter and Red Hot Hockey is making a comeback.
— Only one mailbag question in this issue, but it’s a fun one. Who is the best postseason goalie in NCAA history?
